NMC Healthcare participated in the Health Orientation Day of VEDC – a unit of ACTVET
NMC Healthcare participated as exclusive healthcare partner in the Health Orientation Day of Vocational Education Development Centre (VEDC) and Secondary Technical School, Al Shahama. Health Orientation Day is part of Skills4life 2012 Summer Program, where participants get a chance to experience a range of technological and career education programmes not offered in high schools or at other summer schools.
The event comprised of various health check-ups particularly blood sugar and cholesterol check-up, BMI and dental care. Over 100 Emirati male students between the ages of 14-17 participated in the program. Dr. Krishna Prasad P, BDS, MDS, Orthodontist, and Dr. Sujay Mohan Rai, BDS, MDS, Prosthodontics from NMC Dental Center of Excellence, NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi offered expert advice about dental care and oral hygiene.
Any heart related disease due to weight can be prevented as early as their tender age. Eating habits that are practiced during childhood has a lot of impact on how a child grows into adult; that is why it is important to know the BMI of a child to determine whether to take necessary measure and to ensure that the child will have a normal adult life. Ms Jessy and Mr. Jaybe, specially trained nurses from NMC Specialty Hospital offered advice on the proper proportion of height against the weight of an individual.
