NMC Specialty Hospital, Al Ain organized health awareness lectures on “Urological diseases” to the employees of Al Fara’a Steel structure, in an effort to raise awareness on the risk factors arising out of our lifestyles on Kidney and its prevention for a better living.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nilkamal Joshi, HOD, Urology, NMC Specialty Hospital Al-Ain, said kidney diseases are silent killers, which will largely affect the quality of life. He advised the audience that addressing kidney disease early is one way of preventing any damage to kidneys and thus reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases as well.
There are however several easy ways to reduce the risk of developing these kidney diseases:-
- Keeping fit and active
- Keep regular control of your blood sugar level
- Monitor your blood pressure
- Eat healthy and keep your weight in check
- Do not smoke
- Do not take over-the-counter pills on a regular basis
- Check your kidney function if you have one or more of the “high risk” factors.
The programme was conducted at the work site in Jabel Hafeet Dist, Al Ain and over 120 employees form Al Fara’a Steel structures attended the got benefited from the programme.
